Physical Fitness
Lisa Collins
In today's world people lead a sedentary life-style, since more and more people tend to migrate from countryside in search for better career opportunities to urban centers. Their move is also induced by certain push factors such as lack of employment, absence of social amenities, etc. When they become absorbed in the city life-style, they seldom follow the physical activities that they once used to follow in rural setting. And with time, their busy work schedule and paucity of leisure time make them prone to lead a life without proper physical fitness.
Absence of physical fitness in an individual's life leads to problems such as Obesity. And in industrialized countries the problem of obesity has reached truly an epidemic proportion. It was reported that in the last 10 years, obesity rates have increased by more than 60 percent among adults in the U.S. The rate of increase in overweight among teenagers has been even steeper.
So, it is better to make regular physical activity a part of your everyday life. Almost anyone, at any age, can improve his or her health by doing some type of activity. Such activities may range from mild Weight Loss Exerciseto weight training.
Various activities like cycling, walking, running or playing some favorite games or playing with kids comes under weight loss exercise. Apart from them, gardening and housecleaning can also be considered as weight loss exercise. A weight loss exercise should not be painful and boring. You should choose activities that you love and can do it with fun.
As part of weight loss exercise, interval exercise can also be followed. It is a type of exercise where you run for a minute and walk for another minute. It is effective because your metabolism remains elevated for hours even after completion of exercise thereby helps in weight loss by burning more calories.
Weight training comprises practices like weight lifting, stretching, gym workouts. Weight lifting is done mainly to raise muscle. It has become evident that muscle burns more calories than fat, so if you have more muscle then you'll burn more calories throughout day. It also strengthens bone, makes you strong and help avoid injuries.
Moreover, there is a growing concern worldwide over the issue of child obesity. So, parents must be aware of the child's health issues and they must take care of their activities. Instead of allowing them to watch television, play videogames, they must be encouraged to activities like running, biking, rope jumping, dancing and some other sports to fulfill their daily quota of physical activity.
Physical fitness is needed to attain a disease free life. Maintenance of good exercise and nutritional habits can help prevent high blood pressure and higher cholesterol level, which contribute to heart disease and stroke. Other benefits of physical fitness are anxiety and stress reduction; it enhances feeling of well being and self confidence in an individual.
Life is a beautiful gift of God, nobody wants to spend it in misery. So, to enjoy the life in its fullest one must strive hard to attain a good physique by doing regular exercises along with other activities of life.
